Target Audience

When considering what your target audience is, you have to consider three factors, these are;

  • Age
  • Gender
  • Class
In this section I am going to discuss the specific target audience for each factor.

Age - 15 to 40

The first thing to take into consideration in terms of the age of you target audience, is the certificate of your film. In the case of my film, the certificate would be a 15, so this would almost automatically cut-off those under the age of 15. This is because my film will include some scenes of terror, death and minor gore, which will not be suitable for those of a younger age than the certificate. I also have to consider the appeal of the film, as it's amalgamation of  horror/drama, whilst the horror will appeal to the younger audience, such as 15-25 year old's, the drama element will appeal to a more mature audience's. Also i must take into consideration the subject matter of the film. The film deals with the disappearance of children, thus meaning that film would have a more detrimental affect of those whom are parents of children or those with younger siblings.

Gender - Male

Although my film is not specifically intended or aimed towards one gender, as elements within the movie will appeal to both genders, many factors lean towards a male audience. This is as the movie will contain blood, semi-graphic murder scenes and jump scares. The movie also have a male protagonist, whom is not used to glamorize the movie, but to add an empathetic element, for older males.

Class - C1 - D

My class demographic is the working class and lower middle class. This is as it's going to feature a protagonist and all of the characters are going to fit in those classes, because of this it might be hard for people of a different class to relate to the characters. In my film there will be many references to pop culture, which might not appease those of a higher class.

 Lifestyle

Everyday of my Life Gif - Everyday of my LifeAlthough the film is not specifically aimed towards one lifestyle, it will most definatly appeal to those who have younger brothers or Sisters and people who have children and live a family life. This is as the film will have a greater effect on people who can imagine loosing someone of a similar nature. The film will also have cross-references to pop-culture and will aim towards those who keep the same TV schedule as it is more likerly to affect those who are not entirely accustom with modern cinema, as the obscure and morbid ambience of the film will catch them off guard. It would appeal to those who regulary read newspapers and/or the news, as there have been similar crimes committed over the past twenty years and the murder of a minor, is usually one that catches the attention of the nation.

  1. Cameron, a great start. Remember there are many other ways to define your audience, not just age, gender and socio-economic status. Can you be anymore specific? Makes sure you proof read for grammatical errors. CHA
